(2) The Inwent project


Among other running programmes, APWO is implementing a three year EU project in partnership with GTZ, entitled “Supporting local private operators in sustainable provision of water and sanitation services to small towns in Uganda”. The objectives of the project are:-

  • To promote the common interests of private water operators through representation, advocacy and lobbying for policy improvements with the government, local authorities and other relevant stakeholders.
  • To coordinate the operations of private water operators to generate economies of scale and efficiency gains in the management of water and sanitation services.
  • Capacity building activities of private water operators that will result into system improvements including extension of services to more consumers, improvements in operating efficiency and sustainancy of the water supply.
  • Key activities include advocacy, development of the water billing software for private water operators, water quality monitoring, Operation & maintenance training of private water operators, Financial management training of private water operators.

 

We have ongoing training programs on Non Revenue Water Management, Customer Care and Commercial Orientation; that have been conducted in collaboration with InWent (Capacity Building International, Germany) in partnership with GTZ Ruwas.

  • Day to day management of the secretariat
  • Update of members
  • Working with other associations both local and international and linking them with our members
  • Strengthening of the association
